If you are looking for easy, yet unique recipes using lavender, look no further than Olympic Lavender Farm where culinary commentator and author Kathy Gehrt will give Sequim Lavender Festival visitors tips on cooking with the purple herb.
Gehrt, author of her new book, “Discover Cooking with Lavender,” will demonstrate favorite recipes at 12:30 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the Festival. She will show how to use lavender on a variety of foods, including chicken, fish, vegetables and baked goods. Sunday’s recipe is one of her favorites, grilled pear crostini.
Gehrt, who lives in Seattle, says she enjoys cooking and developing recipes using fresh, local and organic food.
“After 25 years as a technology executive, I decided to focus on my true passion which is creative cooking,” Gehrt said. My book sprang from my love for food, friendship and gardening.”
A compelling speaker, Gehrt has presented her popular cooking demonstration — A Lavender Feast — at the Sequim Lavender Festival and various culinary shops. It is a pleasure to welcome her back to this year’s Festival. “Discover Cooking with Lavender” is available at www.amazon.com or www.discoverlavender.com.
