Sequim Lavender Festival garners state awards

The Sequim Lavender Festival recently won several awards at the Washington Festivals & Events Association’s Summit Awards Competition.

Each year the WFEA honors member organiations for the marketing, promotion and special program achievements in the Summit Awards Competition. Festivals throughout the state are eligible for gold, silver and bronze medals, which are announced at the annual conference each March.

The Sequim Lavender Festival took home five awards: Gold, newspaper insert in the Sequim Gazette; gold, for its promotional brochure; bronze for the poster; gold, souvenir button; and gold, t-shirt

design.

WFEA is a nonprofit tax-exempt 501(c)6 Washington state corporation dedicated to promoting the common business interests of the festivals and events industry in Washington state. Festivals and events play a vital role in the development of tourism and economic opportunities. In addition, Washington’s festivals and special events industry makes a valuable contribution, both economically and culturally, to the people of the Evergreen State. These events generate millions of dollars of economic impact and attract thousands of visitors to the host communities.

Sequim is the “Lavender Capital of North America®” and home of the Sequim Lavender Festival, the largest lavender event in the country. The Festival has been recognized as one of North America’s Top 100 Events by the American Bus Association. The Festival includes Farms on Tour, a Street Fair, and a wide range of community activities. Each farm offers fields of lavender, demonstrations, workshops, music, food, u-pick, lavender products and more. Three-day admission to the Farms on Tour is $15, with no charge for children 12 and under. The Street Fair in downtown Sequim offers more than 150 craftspeople, local lavender from members of the of local lavender, live music, great foods and wine and beer. Also located next to the Street Fair, the Family Fun on the Field event brings nonprofit organizations and families together for old-fashioned fun and games. There is no admission charge to the street fair.

Free parking is available downtown and at each of the farms and a free shuttle bus service connects the entire festival.
